All roads led to Mayajaal on the outskirts of Chennai Saturday night when music composer Harris Jayaraj enthralled one and all with his first ever live concert titled 'Harris on the Edge'.
Thousands of music lovers flocked to the venue to catch a glimpse of the composer performing with a set of talented musicians on a laser-lit stage with state-of-the-art musical instruments.
He was accompanied by a troupe of Tamil playback singers Karthik, Haricharan, Harris Jayaraj, Chinmayi, Tippu, Harini Naresh Iyer, Harish Raghavendra, Krish, Aalap Raju, Kay Kay, Benny Dayal, Andrea, Suvi Suresh, Sunitha Sarathy, Srilekha Parthasarathy and Shweta Menon and dancers.
The event was coordinated by Techfront and directed by A. L. Vijay. The stage was erected with a 270-degree view, the first-of-its-kind in the country. The concert featured a futuristic video technology complementing music strains of the composer and had 3D visuals for audience and interactive visuals. Colourful fireworks and cracker display caught everyone’s attention.
When Harris took centre stage there were cheers and applause all around and shouts of 'Rock On' reverberated the air.
Filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon, who introduced Harris Jayaraj to films with Minnale, welcomed the gathering. Speaking on the occasion, he said, "Harris is one of the great composers who knows the pulse of youngsters. His musical score always attracts masses."
