(Cover) - EN Showbiz - David Boreanaz believes his extramarital affair helped him and his wife "bond".

David and wife Jaime Bergman have been married since 2001. In May 2010 David went public about an affair he had with nightclub manager Rachel Uchitel.

David believes his liaison with Rachel has had a positive impact on his marriage.

"[The affair turned into] a bonding experience, in the long run," David told TV Week.

David credits his unfaithfulness to a dark internal desire. The actor was emotionally scattered when he hooked up with Rachel.

"In a sacred ground like marriage, you find yourself out of it at certain times for reasons unknown that can be destructive," David explained.

"There could be a demon that kind of comes out and overtakes you."

David will do anything to keep his marriage together. He is willing to battle for his love despite difficulties.

"Do I believe in giving up? No, I don't. I'm a fighter. I'm a lover," David said.

David and Jaime have two children together son Jaden, nine, and daughter Bella, two. (C) Cover Media
