Heather Locklear is "under a doctor's care" and not in rehab, according to a source.
The star was hospitalised earlier this month after reportedly mixing alcohol with prescription medication.
Following rumours that she was seeking professional help at a treatment centre, a source has now claimed Heather is currently "under a doctor's care" but is not in rehab.
The insider also suggested Heather has "decided for now to seek recovery without an in-patient program".
According to People, the 50-year-old Melrose Place actress' loved ones are doing all they can to support her.
"Her family and friends haven't given up hope, but they know that for her to get well, she has to want it for herself," the source added.
"She's the only one who can do it."
Heather has suffered personal problems in the past. In 2008 it was claimed she'd tried to commit suicide, although the allegation was later denied. She was helped for anxiety and depression issues later that year.
She has a 14-year-old daughter, Ava, from her marriage to Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora.
Sources have claimed the breakdown of her relationship with actor Jack Wagner and the cancellation of her engagement were the catalysts for Heather's turmoil.
