Heather Locklear is said to be "weighing her options" on whether to check into rehab.

The 50-year-old Melrose Place actress was recently hospitalised after reportedly mixing alcohol with prescription medication.

Her family is concerned and a source told People magazine that they want Heather to get professional help.

"[Heather's] weighing her options right now," the insider told the publication. "Her family is all over her with concern, and that's a hard thing to hear."

Another insider said that Heather's battles with alcohol "go back a long time" but that the television star "was able to handle it and be in social situation just fine."

But the breakdown of her relationship with actor Jack Wagner and the cancellation of her engagement are supposedly weighing on the actress as well as the fact that she recently turned 50.

The changes in her life apparently have played on longtime insecurities.

The actress has suffered personal problems in the past. In 2008 it was claimed she'd tried to commit suicide, although the allegation was later denied. She was helped for anxiety and depression issues later that year.

She has a 14-year-old daughter, Ava, from her marriage to Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora.
