Heather Morris: Glee keeps people upbeat

17th February 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Glee star Heather Morris says the show is one of the only positive programmes left on television.

The series has won a host of awards and legions of fans across the world since it first hit the small screen in 2009. Glee focuses on a group of high school misfits who belong to a musical group and sees the club performing a variety of songs in each episode.

Heather who plays dim-witted cheerleader Brittany in the series is proud to be part of the cast because she believes it is rare to watch something so upbeat on television nowadays.

I think our generation is definitely more open and accepting. But more so, we have technology and music - and people cling to the music most. When things are down economically, people reach for something else, and I think people like the show because it keeps their spirits up, Heather said in an interview with American Cheerleader magazine. A lot of people tell me that they come home and Glees the thing that keeps them going. We dont have many positive TV shows anymore.

The show has many famous fans and several high-profile names have appeared including Britney Spears, Gwyneth Paltrow and Olivia Newton John.

Heather loves her character who famously performed Me Against the Music with Britney in the second season because she says so many bizarre things. The actress has fun reading her scripts, as she never knows what Brittany is going to do next.

I think everybody wants to have a Brittany-ism! She can say any random thing and its funny. I look forward to [the lines] I have to say, she laughed. (C) Cover Media
