(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Dame Helen Mirren has dismissed Russell Brands wild reputation, insisting he is the best boy you could meet.

The outrageous star appears alongside the Oscar-winning actress in a remake of 1981 comedy Arthur. Russell is renowned for his risqu humour and also previously battled addictions to sex and drugs. Despite his hellraising past, Russell has calmed down since he began dating Katy Perry last year, with the pair getting married in October.

Helen has revealed she was pleasantly surprised when she got to know Russell, because he was so polite and kind and they had a great time on set.

What a great guy, I absolutely adore him, she said during an interview on British television show Daybreak. I loved working with Russell; he is the most brilliant, inventive, wonderful person. He is the archetypal bad boy, who is really just the best, goodest boy you could possibly meet.

In Arthur, Russell plays the title character originally made famous by Dudley Moore a drunken playboy who risks losing his inheritance when he falls in love with a woman his family dont approve of.

Helen plays Arthurs nanny and she loved filming scenes with Russell. In fact, the pair got along so well the 35-year-old funnyman gave Helen a very special gift when shooting had wrapped.

He gave me this safety pin which I put on a necklace as my prize at the end of the film. He said, Oh, its only a safety pin, but actually it is diamond encrusted. There are diamonds all over it! He gave me a safety pin because I play his nanny in Arthur, she said.

Russell recently revealed he has harboured a crush on the 65-year-old Hollywood star for many years. (C) Cover Media
