(Cover) - EN Showbiz - The Kings of Leon have admitted they call each other stupid and ugly during recording sessions.

The rock band is comprised of lead singer Caleb Followill, his brothers Nathan and Jared on drums and bass respectively, and their cousin Matthew on lead guitar.

Being family members, the rockers admit recording sessions can sometimes get quite personal, with insults being thrown around, as they feel they can talk to each other in a way they wouldnt address friends or other work colleagues.

I think a band that wasnt related might find it hard to take, Nathan told British newspaper The Daily Telegraph.

We can look at each other and be like, 'Youre stupid, youre ugly, and that part sucks ass. Thats brother-to-brother. Once we step up to the mark, all that is forgotten.

Although small spats occasionally occur, its only really because the band are such perfectionists. In general, the rockers tend to agree on their musical direction, and have an immense amount of respect for each other. Nathan is particularly impressed with his brother Calebs improvisational skills and thinks the musician creates some of his best lyrics when he isnt trying to.

He has the rare gift of subconscious writing, enthused Nathan. His wheels are turning at all times, and even his dummy lyrics flow together and make sense. In his own mind, he might think hes in there rambling, but some of his least favourite lines, the lyrics he wanted to change, they were the pivots the song revolved around. (C) Cover Media
