Contrary to expectations that she would take part in the audio launch of Thulli Ezhundhadhu Kadhal, the Tamil dubbed version of the Telugu movie Thakita Thakita in which she did a cameo, Anushka celebrated her birthday with her family members on Monday.

'Anushka very much wanted to take part in the music launch event in Chennai, since director Sreehari Nanu and producer Bhumika organised the function as her birthday gift. But she could not do so and she explained it to Sreehari and Bhumika,' sources said.

On how she spent the day, the sources added: 'Anushka has always been shooting through her birthday. On Monday, she spent her birthday with her parents for the first time in four years. Everyone in the family is so happy about it.'

We learn that the actress also hosted a small party for her close friends. 'She flew in late Sunday night to Bengaluru to bring in her birthday over dinner at home,' sources further said.
