I am a very greedy actor: Vidya Balan

26th May 2014

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan recently confessed that she enjoys doing author-backed roles and is glad that the industry considers her capable enough to offer her such films.

Films like 'Paa', 'The Dirty Picture' and 'Kahaani' have re-christened her as a 'thinking man's actor' in the industry. Her might at the box office has not only earned her an inevitable position and few awards but also the title of a 'hero'.

But Vidya claims that she considers this to be a sexist remark. "Firstly, I choose not to be called a hero amongst the heroines because I think that in itself is a very, very sexist statement. I'm happy being called a heroine or female actor. Although, I think it's very flattering when people say that," she said.

Vidya however, is quick to add that the good films in recent past have made her greedy. "I've been very fortunate to have been part of the kind of work (that I've done). I'm hungry and thirsty and ravenous when it comes to good roles and films. So when they come my way, I grab the opportunities with all my might; I'm a tigress when it comes to that. I'm a very greedy actor and there's an insatiable hunger in me which is why I keep saying again and again that I think I will always be an actor till I'm alive. Or maybe even beyond. Who knows? They might need entertainment up there," adds Vidya.
