11th May 2015

An umbrella of doctors practicing modern medicine termed as The Indian Medical Association forwarded a letter to the union minister of information and broadcasting to boycott the screening of the recent release, 'Gabbar'.

The association holds the opinion that the film showcased their profession in a poor light and in a derogatory and unrealistic manner. Dr. Jayesh Lele, president –elect IMA-Maharashtra further explained, "The hero of the movie is aware that the patient is dead as he is carrying a death certificate with him. However, he still approaches the hospital as if the patient is alive. This sends a wrong signal to society and we strongly condemn this."

IMA, therefore has demanded the immediate censorship on the objectionable scenes from the film. The film is written by A R Murugadoss, directed by Krish and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.
