Imtiaz Ali's next film 'Jab Harry Met Sejal' starring Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma in the lead did not release its trailer but instead released 3 mini trails which gave a sneak-peek into Harry and Sejal's life. The second mini trail titled 'Indemnity Bond' showcased Sejal handing a bond to Harry regarding their physical relationship. As she says, "Agar humare beech koi sexual relation hota hai, amounting to or not amounting to full intercourse, you are absolved of all legal charges." The word 'intercourse' has not gone well with the CBFC and has now announced to take strict actions against the makers for releasing the promo which was uncut.
CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani was quoted saying as, "We've granted a U/A certification to the trailer on condition of deletion of the intercourse dialogue. They're yet to come back to us on that. So in principle, the trailer has not been passed yet. They've uploaded the uncut trailer on YouTube. The CBFC cannot stop content on the Internet. But we can and will stop the broadcast of the uncensored footage on television. The trailer has been picked up from the web and is being aired on various news channels. This is completely against the law, and we plan to take the strictest action against the channels which have aired the censored content from Imtiaz Ali's film."
While on the other hand the team of 'Jab Harry Met Sejal' said, "We have not released the promo of the film where the word 'intercourse' has been used, either in theatres or for TV. Only the censored promo has been released for TV and theatres. The promo where word 'intercourse' has been mentioned, was released only on the internet, and there is no censorship there. We have not broken any law."
Nihalani has run his censor scissors earlier on films like 'Udta Punjab,' 'Lipstick Under My Burkha' and many more.
