(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Michael Jackson's children can be involved in Dr. Conrad Murray's sentencing, the District Attorney has reportedly decided.
The King of Pop died of acute Propofol intoxication in 2009 and yesterday his personal physician was found guilty of his involuntary manslaughter. He was taken into custody to await sentencing, which will take place on November 29.
Prior to and during the trial there were reports that Michael's children wanted to take the stand. That didn't happen, but Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney David Walgren is now reported to have backed a suggestion for Prince Michael, 14, Paris, 13, and nine-year-old Blanket to be involved in what happens to Murray.
"The D.A. has told [Michael's mother] Katherine Jackson that the children could submit a letter for one of the family members to read at the sentencing. If either one of them wish to address the court, he will fully support the children, and make whatever accommodations need to be made. It's still unclear if the children will be in court for sentencing, Katherine Jackson is very protective of the children. If Katherine has her way, they won't be anywhere near the courthouse for sentencing," a source told RadarOnline.com.
It was Prince Michael and Paris who were thought to be keen to be involved in court proceedings. It remains unclear whether Blanket could also contribute.
Other members of the pop icon's family will also be allowed to speak to the court when Murray is sentenced by Judge Michael Pastor.
"Michael comes from a very large family, and they were in court for the entire trial. The DA will be talking to the Jackson family as the sentencing date draws closer. It's a very fluid situation, but it's more than likely that more than two Jackson siblings will be speaking. Katherine Jackson hasn't decided if she will make public comments in court," the insider said.
Murray faces up to four years in prison. He was handcuffed in court and led away yesterday, with the Los Angeles Times newspaper now reporting he has been placed on suicide watch.
He has also been given his own cell to ensure he is safe at all times and has someone who stays with him constantly to ensure he comes to no harm.
Before he was found guilty there was speculation Murray had been shooting a documentary about the trial. TMZ now reports the programme is called Michael Jackson and The Doctor: A Fatal Friendship and sees Murray revealing some secrets about the superstar.
"[It] was shot while Murray awaited trial for manslaughter... and features a shockingly candid look at the preparation of the trial, which includes intense fighting between Murray's lawyers," reports the site.
It's claimed "major broadcasters" have already agreed terms to air the documentary. (C) Cover Media
