(Cover) - EN Movies - James Franco has joined the cast of Cherry.

The American actor has signed on to appear in the indie drama alongside Dev Patel and Heather Graham.

James will play a lawyer in the movie which follows the story of an 18-year-old girl who moves to San Francisco and pursues a career in the adult film industry. The character becomes involved with James' character.

Heather will portray a former porn star-turned-director who becomes obsessed with the new actress, whilst Dev will play the girl's best friend in the upcoming movie.

Lili Taylor is in negotiations to play the teenager's alcoholic mother.

Stephen Elliott will direct the script, which he co-wrote with Lorelei Lee.

Production is set to begin next month in San Francisco after James finishes shooting for The Stare which he is starring in opposite Winona Ryder. (C) Cover Media
