(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jared Followill has revealed that he and his family used to live in a "religious bubble".
The Kings of Leon bassist, who formed the band in 1999 with his two brothers and cousin, explained that they have grown up and moved on from their sheltered childhood.
The 24-year-old now sees the protective religious community as "weird".
"The religion we came from is in such a bubble, it's weird. They probably think that we're weirdos now, and we think that they're weirdos. But it's like you're really convinced of everything in this bubble and you're in a really small world," he told the BBC. "When we were younger we were cut off from most forms of entertainment we couldn't watch television or movies or listen to any kind of secular music. It becomes your life and that's all you have."
The musician also spoke about the band's upcoming documentary Talihina Sky, which will premiere at Edinburgh Festival Hall this weekend. The picture charts the band's beginnings and rise to fame while growing up in a strict Pentecostal family.
"We didn't really want just a run-of-the-mill, normal documentary, we wanted it to be something different and something a little bit edgy. So that's why we kept a lot of the edgy stuff in there and the stuff that might make normal people hide behind the couch," Jared explained. "I think critically it should do well. I mean I'm sure it will do like our records, people will love it and other people will hate it." (C) Cover Media
