Javier Bardem used to playing heroes

15th January 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Javier Bardem says he doesnt usually play the bad guy in movies.

The iconic star dazzled audiences with his portrayal of cold hitman Anton Chigurh in 2007 movie No Country for Old Men.

He featured as crazed witch doctor and criminal Romeo Dolorosa in Perdita Durango, which was released in 1997.

But Javier, widely tipped for an Oscar nomination for Biutiful, admits these kind of roles are not the norm for him.

In 22 years of acting Ive only done two movies where I, personally, kill people. Perdita Durango and No Country for Old Men, he told Empire magazine.

The latter film was directed by acclaimed filmmakers Joel and Ethan Coen. And Javier revealed that they made fun of him during production because he was so nervous portraying a callous murderer. He says holding a weapon caused him to panic the most.

The Coens called me The Spanish Ballerina on set, because every time I had the gun, when they called cut, Id give it back and say, Take this sh*t out of my hands! the 41-year-old explained. They were laughing, like they couldnt believe I was supposed to be the villain. (C) Cover Media
