Jennifer Lopez "thinks it's time" for her to leave American Idol.

The star has just completed her second season on the judging panel of the TV show but there has been intense speculation that she won't be returning for the next series.

Despite reports that Jennifer hadn't made up her mind, she has hinted she is calling it a day.

"I am thinking that it's time for me to go," she said on the Today show this morning.

"I've loved it so much. I've enjoyed the show so much. I enjoy just the whole process of the show... It's a tough decision either way, but I have to say there are so many things I do that I put on hold for that. It's a heart breaking decision if I have to go."

Jennifer has four-year-old twins Max and Emme and has been reviving her music career lately. She is currently on tour with Enrique Iglesias and is feeling torn between American Idol and new pursuits.

"Little by little I am," she said, when asked if she's already made up her mind "All I can let you in on is my own thought process with it because that's where I truly am... I love everybody, I love all the guys on the show, I love the family that's there... but I am thinking it's time for me to go and do other things I love to do."
