(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jessica Simpson "can't wait" to meet her baby.

The American star announced she is pregnant with her first child with fianc Eric Johnson this week, following much speculation.

She's rumoured to be around six months along and has discussed how excited she is to become a mother.

"We're both thrilled," she told Us Weekly magazine. "We can't wait to meet our baby!"

Friends of the 31-year-old are delighted for her. One explained family has always been the "most important thing" to Jessica.

Although the singer-and-actress hasn't suffered morning sickness, she's had other issues.

"[She's been] really tired lately," a friend told the publication. "She goes to bed super early now and gets up at 5.30 in the morning."

Jessica is known for her strong work ethic. She has a fashion empire said to be worth around $1 billion and is working hard even while pregnant.

The blonde beauty has a new skincare regime out and is also working on a range of jewellery.

"The craziest thing is, she's still taking all her meetings - in heels!" another source laughed.

A separate report has claimed Jessica could be having twins. She was said to be nervous after realising she may be having two babies as she's unsure whether she'll be able to get everything ready in time.

"That was scary for her. Jessica is a perfectionist and she was panicking that she wouldn't be able to cram in everything she needs to do in time for the birth," a source told the American edition of OK! magazine.

"For instance, she put so much effort into making the nursery absolutely perfect she even had it repainted three times! So when the doctor said she might be having twins, she had to rethink everything." (C) Cover Media
