January 15, 2011 (Sampurn Wire): Joan Collins got into the struggling 1980s show Dynasty in 1981 as the ex-wife of oil tycoon Blake Carrington played by John Forsythe. As vengeful Alexis, everyone not only took notice of her but the soap opera went on to become one of the longest running series in USA that enjoyed a good rating, after the first season.
Joan Collins and the show Dynasty bid adieu to the audience in 1989 and now when the plans are being made to turn the series into a film the actress would like Gemma Arterton to take on the role of the catty Alexis Carrington. According to the English actress, the Tamara Drew star would fit the role of Alexis well, as Gemma can portray the vixenous quality, she is clever looking and sexy. On the other hand Collins would like Star Treks actor Chris Pine to be the new and young Blake Carrington.
The show was co-created by Ester Shapiro and he now plans to make the film which would be like a prequel to the ABC series Dynasty. The film would follow the life of Blake and the chemistry and love that he shared with Alexis. It will also be a journey of Blake where he will inherit the oil company from his father and eventually find himself surrounded by the assassins.
On the other hand the 77year old actress is interested to return to Dynasty only if she can be Alexis again and be happy to play the grandmom.
