Josh Duhamel visits flood ruined hometown

5th September 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Josh Duhamel says visiting his flood ravaged hometown was a "tough" experience.

The 38-year-old actor went back to Minot, North Dakota, this weekend. A flood back in June damaged many homes in the area and destroyed the welcoming lawn of his former college Minot State University. Josh was in town for a benefit concert held to raise cash to assist in flood recovery efforts.

Although flood damage was extensive, Josh was optimistic about the small town's recovery. He offered kind words of encouragement to those who were affected by the natural disaster.

"It's tough to come back to see some of the conditions of parts of this town," Josh said in an interview with local newspaper Minot Daily News. "But the spirit of this city remains. And I truly believe that they're going to bounce back from this quicker than people think. Because of the fabric of this city and the character of the people in this city is so strong."

The former American football athlete played the back-up quarterback position on the university's team. Asked to host a coin toss on his home field during a game, Josh was able to reminisce about his days playing the game.

"I guess I didn't even know they had this artificial turf. The conditions are a little bit better than when we played here," Josh said. "It's nice to be back on the field - I miss it. I couldn't hang with these guys anymore, but I miss it." (C) Cover Media
