The actress won an Academy Award for her dazzling performance in Erin Brockovich in 2000, which looked at the life of the US environmentalist.

And now Julia admits she is tipping the Spanish star to win a best actor Oscar, or at least be a nominee, thanks to his role in hard-hitting drama Biutiful.

"If there's no hope for talent, then we're f**ked, she told E! Online, when asked how shell feel if Javier, 41, is not recognised.

The shortlist is set to be revealed on January 25.

The 43-year-old also explained that it is something truly special to witness Javiers latest performance. Julia urged the public to see the movie because Javier - who won a best supporting Oscar for his role in No Country for Old Men - is at the top of his game.
