Justin Timberlake worries about young fans

4th February 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Justin Timberlake decided to appear in his latest movie as payback for all the raunchy music lyrics he has unleashed on the world.

The actor-and-singer voices the character of Boo Boo in new animation Yogi Bear. He was particularly keen to be involved with the project as he knows it will appeal to little kids, a demographic he constantly worries about.

Justin found fame with band *NSYNC and has had a successful solo career, but many of his lyrics have been explicit. He is also famed for his sexy dance moves, and he worries about the affect hes had on young fans.

Guilt, he replied, when asked why he did the movie. Ive had parents come to me and say: My daughter really loves the song SexyBack. I say Oh great. How old is your daughter? expecting them to say she goes to university. They say, Shes nine.

So that made me feel really bad as a person. And I felt it was irresponsible of those parents - my music is explicit. So I did this film so that I would feel better about myself.

Justin is proud of the voice he puts on for Boo Boo, and says its something hes been practicing since he was little. He grew up watching the cartoon version of Yogi Bear on television, and couldnt believe it when he was asked to work on the big screen adaptation.

I liked to entertain. Im an only child and I was obviously really bored, so I would imitate Scooby-Doo and Boo Boo for my parents. Yogi and Boo Boo are iconic characters - a duo like Batman and Robin. I laughed at them as a kid, so I think nostalgia is the biggest reason I did the film, he explained to British newspaper The Daily Mail.

The 30-year-old added he feels an affinity with Boo Boo as they are actually very similar. They share a love of clothes, and both took a while to hit puberty.

Well, I like to wear bow ties, I like the colour blue and Im furry in places, he laughed.

The sense of humour would be something we have in common. And I didnt hit my growth spurt until late, so I was short for a large portion of my life. (C) Cover Media
