(Cover) - EN Movies - Kari Matchett "couldn't have been more envious" of the Bridesmaids cast.

The 41-year-old Canadian actress is famed for roles in films such as sci-fi horror Cube 2: Hypercube, as well as appearing as Joan Campbell, senior officer at the Domestic Protection Division (DPD) in US drama series Covert Affairs.

Kari's career so far has been centred around serious roles, and she admits that as much as she likes playing authoritative women, she would love the chance to fool around on screen. One of her ideal roles would have been in this year's comedy smash Bridesmaids, where Kristen Wiig portrays an unlucky-in-love maid of honour charged with organising her best friend's marriage.

"I couldn't have been more envious of all the women in Bridesmaids. If something like that was in my future, I would be thrilled, and I certainly hope it is," she told Collider.

The star is confident in her comic abilities and is eager to portray her flexibility. She thinks vulnerable characters are some of the most interesting to play.

"I would love to do some more comedy. I would love to do some silliness. I would love to do some characters that have greater vulnerability. I don't know why. I know I can play these roles, but they're certainly not the only roles I can play. And, I haven't only played those roles," she added. (C) Cover Media
