Katy Perry rules out heartbreak album

5th July 2012

Katy Perry would never "devote a whole record to heartbreak" as her sunny personality just wouldn't allow it.

The songstress is currently promoting her movie Katy Perry: Part of Me 3D, in which she documents life on the road and her personal struggles along the way.

Katy is in the process of getting divorced from Russell Brand following a 14-month marriage, and although she found the break-up hard, she would never dwell on her personal woes in her music.

"I'd never devote a whole record to heartbreak. I'm happy, I'm in a good place, I'm looking forward to my future," she told British newspaper The Sun.

In one scene in the movie, Katy is seen sobbing backstage before a show in Brazil - prompting her manager to ask if she's depressed.

Despite her relationship struggles, Katy managed to switch on her stage persona and face crowds in her usual quirky way.

"That's towards the end of the tour and I am obviously exhausted and things aren't going well for me personally. I am trying to keep that to myself and it started cracking through," she explained.

"It is a bit of a symbolic moment, rising above that pain on that lift, and sometimes I had to turn it on. I turned on my spinning outfits and my spinning peppermints. Whoever said the show must go on had obviously been there too. But it wasn't like I was always in my make-up chair, convulsing and crying and showing my cracks."
