Katy Perry feels likes she's in "some kind of weird Truman Show" when her music become appropriate to her life.

The newly-single songstress took to the stage at the Grammys recently to perform her latest track Part of Me. Many speculated that the song has been penned in light of her impending divorce from British comedian Russell Brand.

However, the singer has revealed that the fiery performance was just a coincidence when it came to relating to her personal life.

Katy says her entire life sometimes feels like it's actually a TV show.

"I wrote Part of Me two years ago and I always knew that Part of Me was a special song," she told Access Hollywood. "It feels like my life plays out with these songs. I feel like I'm in some kind of weird Truman Show where I'm like, Why is this single appropriate now and it wouldn't have been appropriate then?'

"It's just so crazy."

Katy has acknowledged the irony of the song. The star wants to continue penning tracks that appeal to her fans.

"I guess the universe is kind of we're kind of like, dancing together in some weird way. Does that make sense or am I being too hippie?" Katy mused.

"I think it's really important for me to write songs that are still honest and relatable because that's what everyone else is going through."

The track has become an instant success following her Grammys performance. Katy is hugely appreciative that fans have taken to the anthem.

"I'm completely grateful because I know that not everything will always be this way," she said. "Maybe if I continue to make sure I'm doing everything with the right motives, then hopefully, chromatically it will go well. But I have to live it up while I'm still young while I'm 27!"
