(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Katy Perrys mother is trying to get a memoir published, in which she discusses how her daughters career has affected her Christian ministry.
The American pop star has been open about her religious upbringing. Both her mother Mary Hudson and father Keith Hudson are preachers and Katy was raised in a strict Christian household. She was only allowed to listen to religious music as a child, went to church camps and has discussed how Keith used to speak in tongues.
She has always insisted her parents are totally supportive of her career decisions, although they may not always want to listen to I Kissed A Girl the track which made Katy famous worldwide.
Mary has now penned a book about her experiences since her daughter achieved global recognition, in which she explains how it has changed her life.
Mary Hudson wants to tell 'her story' and dispel a lot of rumours. Katy's success has impacted her ministry in both negative and positive ways, her proposal explains, according to New York Post.
"She loves her daughter very much and is very proud of her accomplishments, but disagrees with a lot of choices she makes in her career. This memoir is to set the record straight. It is not Christian proselytising or a Katy Perry tell-all. It is the story of Mary Perry Hudson.
Marys co-author T.L. Gray has confirmed the plans, adding the tome is yet to be picked up by a publishing house.
We currently have interest from a couple of different agencies, but have not signed with anyone Mary also just completed a Christian book called Joyful Mother that will be released soon from Destiny Image we've been playing around with a few different titles, T.L. said.
Katy married British comedian Russell Brand last year, following a whirlwind romance. Russell has been addicted to sex and drugs in the past and has been open about his flamboyant life, but Mary and Keith embraced him with open arms. Katy has spoken about how pleased she was with the way her parents and partner got on when they first met, revealing Mary thinks Russell will soon take a new path. (C) Cover Media
