The 36-year-old movie hunk is a huge fan of the Californian city, although he thinks the projections of it in Hollywood movies are a tad clichd. However, his latest film The Lincoln Lawyer, about a lawyer who works on legal cases from the back of his car, reveals a more authentic side of Los Angeles.
Ryan has urged people to discover the rawer parts of the city, especially because there are so many fantastic restaurants there.
You often see the palm tree lined streets of Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Malibu, but thats less than five percent of the citizens of the city live that way, so [in The Lincoln Lawyer] youre kind of seeing a more authentic, gritty, LA, I think, he told Cinema Blend.
He admits that one of his favourite pastimes is taking his children with ex-wife Reese Witherspoon; 11-year-old Ava and Deacon, seven, on gourmet visits downtown. Ryan who lives in Los Angeles - says some of the most unique flavours he has experienced have been German delicacies, although the kids are fans of wacky-flavoured cakes.
Well I had lived here almost fifteen years and hadnt spent that much time downtown and I kind of fell in love with it. I found, theres this diner, The Nickel Diner down there that I take the kids to. They have all these crazy donut flavours and stuff, and theres that sausage place Wurstkche that I discovered down there this German sausage, they have their rattlesnake sausage and rabbit sausage so its really, really interesting, he added.
So theres some undiscovered gems down there that Ive come to love.
Ryan is currently dating actress Amanda Seyfried, although recently there have been rumours that his ex-girlfriend Alexis Knapp who he split from in September is pregnant with his third child. Ryan is a dedicated family man, and admits living in a city where so many movies get made makes it easy to see his kids.
You hate having to go on location, especially once you have children. It was so great to be able to come home every day and sleep in my own bed and have dinner with the kids or see friends on the weekends, he beamed. (C) Cover Media
