Kaylee DeFer is happy living life as a single woman.

The Gossip Girl star has called off her engagement with jewellery designer Mike Pereira.

Kaylee is not distressed at all by the split.

"We just separated," Kaylee told Us Weekly magazine at Gossip Girl's 100th episode party at Skylight Studios in New York City Thursday. "It's OK. It really is."

Kaylee is ultimately at peace with her choice not to wed her long-term boyfriend because being a singleton again is a liberating experience for the star.

"I was engaged for a long time and this is me being single," Kaylee gushed. "I'm totally OK with it, so I'm spreading my love now."

Kaylee really felt like their relationship had hit a dead end. She wanted to pursue other opportunities for romance.

"I think sometimes you just realise it's time to move on," Kaylee explained. "So now I'm spreading my love and being single, and it's fine. Really."

This upcoming Valentine's Day will be the first one Kaylee has spent without a partner in years. Despite this, the actress still has big plans for February 14.

"I'm going to sit down with a group of friends and make a bunch of old school Valentines like you did back in the day," Kaylee detailed. "We'll send them out to all of these people from your past, present and people you want to get to know. Because who doesn't want to have a Valentine on Valentine's Day?"
