The superstar Akshay Kumar, born as Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia is an Indian film actor, producer and martial arts enthusiast who has appeared in over a hundred hindi films.
When he began his acting career in the 1990s, he primarily starred in action films and was particularly known for his appearances in feature films commonly called the 'Khiladi series' as well as other outstanding action films such as 'Mohra', 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari' and 'Sangharsh'.
Later, he also gained fame for his drama, romance and comic roles. He started getting known for his performances in romantic films like 'Dhadkan' and the superhit, 'Namastey London'.
He has also been critically accliamed for his performance in drama films like 'Waqt'.
His comic performances include the blockbuster 'Hera Pheri' and rom-com - 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi'.
With two filmfare awards and his recent 'Rowdy Rathore' grossing over 100 crores, the two decade old actor, has worked as a stunt man and often performed many dangerous stunts in his films, himself.
Known as the 'Indian Jackie Chan', 2008 marked Kumar's television debut as the host of the show 'Fear Factor' – 'Khatron Ke Khiladi'.
In 2009, Kumar founded the Hari Om Entertainment production company.
The 'University of Windsor' conferred an Honorary Doctorate of Law on Kumar, in recognition of his contribution to Indian cinema.
After a Padma Shri, in 2011, the Asian Film Awards honored Kumar for his outstanding achievement in Cinema.
