Kirsten Dunst "appreciates" the accolades she has received for her professional accomplishments.
The 29-year-old actress received the Best Actress award at this year's Cannes Film Festival in May for her performance in Melancholia.
Kirsten, who has been acting professionally since she was eight-years-old, was elated to have been awarded with such a prestigious prize.
"I was happy to receive the award at an age where I could appreciate it but not be overwhelmed," Kirsten told Us Weekly.
Kirsten supports the success of other actresses in her age group too, as she enjoys friendly competition.
"The Ides of March actress Evan Rachel Wood and I both auditioned for the 1994 film Interview With the Vampire," she recalled.
"It's a big deal we're both still successful."
Being a celebrity for most of her life does not prevent Kirsten from getting star-struck occasionally. One particular rock group will interminably spark her interest.
"I'm a big R.E.M. fan. Now lead singer Michael Stipe is my neighbour and wants to be my friend!"
Melancholia was released in the US earlier this month.
