(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Lindsay Lohan has been released from house arrest and is "excited to start over".

The actress, who turns 25 on Saturday, was kept in confinement for 35 days stemming from her conviction for stealing a $2,500 necklace from a jewellery store in January.

She stepped outside as a free woman today, having had her ankle bracelet removed, and said that she is focused on the future.

"I'm excited to start community service and focus on my work," she told TMZ.

She will begin her 480 hours of community service immediately at the Downtown Women's Center in Los Angeles.

Lindsay's mother Dina Lohan said yesterday that her daughter will not be having a big birthday party in the Hamptons as was being reported but will instead have a "low key" affair to celebrate her special day.

The actress will still have to be careful of her actions as she remains on probation stemming from her DUI arrest back in 2007. (C) Cover Media
