Lindsay Lohan's probation revoked

19th October 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Lindsay Lohan appeared in court today for an update on her probation.

She was in front of Judge Stephanie Sautner who admonished the 25-year-old actress for not showing up nine times to her court-appointed community service programme at the Downtown Women's Center in Los Angeles.

Lindsay was recently re-assigned by the Probation Department to do her hours at the Red Cross after the Women's Center threw her out.

But Judge Sautner said that those were not her orders and they did not have the right to make the change.

After a heated 45 minute hearing with the judge voicing her frustration with Lindsay, she ruled that the star was in violation of her probation.

She said that Lindsay was completely responsible for the Center asking her to leave because of her non-compliance, and reminded the actress and her lawyer that, "probation is a gift".

The Mean Girls star was handcuffed and taken out of court and the judge set her bail at $100,000 and ordered her to complete a minimum of 16 hours a week at a county morgue until the probation violation hearing which has been set for November 2 2011.

Judge Sautner also voiced her confusion as to how Lindsay could have complied with her weekly therapy visits in person if she was out of the country working between September 9 and October 5.

The judge also balked when she read the Probation report stating that Lindsay said she was not happy at the Downtown Women's Center because it was "not fulfilling".

Lindsay's lawyer Shawn Chapman Holley argued that Lindsay had completed other parts of her probation including her shoplifter's course which the star actually finished last night.

The probation hearing next month will determine if Lindsay is in fact in violation of her probation and could see the actress spending a year-and-a-half in jail if found guilty.

But the judge acknowledged because of overcrowding in the city's jails, such a sentence would prove difficult.

Lindsay was initially ordered to complete 360 hours at the Downtown Women's Center and 120 hours at the morgue stemming from her no contest plea in a jewellery theft case earlier this year.

The Downtown Women's Center have said that they would have Lindsay back but have suggested that maybe she does some time at the morgue first to see how tough community service can be. (C) Cover Media
