Its a Deja Vu ride...

What would happen if two experts in a common field come together for a project? Either it should result in a marvel or should become a disaster. But Maasi is somewhat different.

Besides bringing together Arjun and director Kicha, who are known for police stories (the former in many movies and the latter in Thee and Bhavani), Maasi is neither here nor there kind of stuff, which fails to offer anything new to the viewer.

A collection of scenes from many hits of the yesteryear, Maasi is a deja vu ride, reminding us of old films such as Kaakka Kaaka, Walter Vetrivel, Sethupathi IPS and in some places, some flicks of none other the 'Action King'.

The only aim of Maasi aka Masilamani (Arjun), an upright police officer, is to free the city from the clutches of baddies Naaga (Pradeep Rawath), Nandha (Ponnambalam) and two others (Kota Srinivasa Rao and 'Dhool' Sakunthala). But the evil elements pose big hurdles to Maasi and even kill his mother and wife. A determined Maasi, who is known for encounters, redevises his strategies to deal with the criminals.

The rest of the movie is all about how Maasi chases and guns down the villains in brainy and brawny ways.

Arjun is tough as a police officer. This role should be a cake walk for him. The two leading ladies have nothing much to perform. Pradeep Rawath, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Ponnambalam and Sakunthala do regular characters.

Cinematography by Boopathy presents some catchy frames while Dhina's music is loud. Though the story is regular, director Kicha could have narrated it in a different manner. But in Maasi, he has failed in this area. 

Overall, the movie is cliched and is just a one time watch.
