Mahesh Bhatt to make directing comeback for Alia?

20th March 2014

Bollywood Cult Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt gave up directing films after his award winning 1998 film 'Zakhm'. Since then he has only been involved in production of films.

But his daughter and Bollywood's upcoming star Alia Bhatt might just lure him towards filmmaking again.

Mahesh recently confessed that his 21-year-old daughter has been asking him to pen down a story for her.

"She does tell me to write a film, so maybe someday...but it should be natural," said Mahesh.

However, he added that she is independent in her career and doesn't need his support. He also credits her directors to bring out the best in her.

"Alia has just begun. She is only two films old and has miles to go. I don't think she is dependent on me to bring out the depth in her. Karan Johar and Imtiaz Ali have brought out dimensions in her which I could possibly have not done as a director. I have no illusions about wielding a magical wand that can bring something out of her that others can't," he added.

The filmmaker who has given many budding aspirants a platform to flourish, also has a piece of advice for his daughter and is delighted that she has not let success hit her head yet.

"Alia has to understand that long film careers need a lot of consistent hard work. She must enjoy the praise but also remember that she has a long way to go. It's dangerous to delude yourself into thinking that you've arrived. Thank God, Alia doesn't suffer from that. She isn't the first member of her own fan club," smiles the proud father.
