Even as we gear up for one of Kerala's biggest festivals, Vishu, or the Malayalam New year, looks like there will be a classic face-off between the two big daddies of Malayalam Cinema – Mammootty and Mohanlal! Vishu 2011 will witness a classic shootout, as Mammootty's release, 'Doubles' clashes with Mohanlal's 'China Town' on April 15!

This encounter at the box-office, between two of the hottest leading Malayalam heroes, has taken place after many years. Though the usual and practical practice of the trade is to avoid such head on clashes, looks like they must have yielded to the temptation of releasing their films on a big festival like 'Vishu'!

With the Vishu weekend (April 15th) being followed by the Easter weekend (April 22nd), it does make sense to release the films during the summer vacations. Film pundits are auguring that both these movies will perform well at the BO and cash in on the holiday mood, especially as the Kerala assembly gets done with on the 13th of April

Mammootty's 'Doubles' has been directed by debutant Sohan Seenulal, written by Sachi- Sethu, and stars Mammootty, Nadia Moidu, Taapsee ,Suraj Venjaramoodu and Salim Kumar, with Avinash, Roma and Rima Kallingal performing cameo roles. Produced by KK Narayanadas, under the banner of Dreams on Wheels, the music has been provided by James Vasanth.

'China Town' is a multi-starrer, featuring Mohanlal, Jayaram, Dileep, Kavya Madhavan, Poonam Bajwa, Jagathi, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Pradeep Rawat. Written and directed by the duo, Rafi-Mecartin, the music by Jassie Gift is already a chartbuster!
