Mani Ratnam for Mahatma Gandhi

3rd October 2011

October 2 is celebrated as Gandhi Jayanthi all over the country, as it is the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of our nation.

On Sunday, even as the day was celebrated with much fervour across India, Mani Ratnam, who had made many national integraton movies, offered his tributes to the Mahatma by taking part in an Ahimsa walk in Chennai.

The event held to remember Gandhiji and his teachings was organised by the Indian Vegetarian Congress at the sprawling green campus of Theosophical Society. Mani Ratnam was present and offered his support.

A great admirer of India and a crusader of unity, Mani Ratnam's films, including Roja, Bombay and Dil Se, spoke about unity and national integration. 'He was happy to attend the Ahimsa Walk,' circles close to the filmmaker said.
