January 6, 2011 (Sampurn Wire): South Indian actor Manoj K Jayan has won one of the most prestigious awards given to achievers in the South Indian film industry. According to reports in the media, Manoj K Jayan has been declared the winner of this years Bharat Murali Award, named after the very popular Mollywood star Murali. The Bharat Murali Award was first started by the Kanjaveli AKG Kalakendram and the Bharat Murali Smaraka Samithi. The Award has always tried to praise the best performer in South Indian cinema over the years.
In a statement to the media, the organizers of the Bharat Murali Award have announced that it is the actors performance in the 2009 Malayalam movie Pazhassi Raja which has won Manoj K Jayan, the Bharat Murali Award of 2011. Manoj K Jayan has been a popular face of several Malayalam, Telugu and Tamil films in a career spanning more than two decades. While commercial success has never been very difficult for him to achieve, critical acclamation has also come in his way.
The Samithi President K.K. Rajendran and K.V. Jyothilal, the jury Chairman Dr. N. Jayadevan and the Samithi secretaries Baiju Joseph and K. Sajiv Kumar said in a statement to the media that they loved the character of Thalakkal Chanthu that Manoj K Jayan portrayed in the film Pazhassi Raja and therefore, they unanimously chose the actor as this years winner of the Bharat Murali Award. The ceremony will be held on the 8th of January.
