(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Mark Ronson feared Boy George didnt like the song he had written for him when he first heard it.

The award-winning music producer penned Somebody to Love Me for his new album Record Collection and has revealed it was inspired by Do You Really Want to Hurt Me a hit single released in the 80s by Culture Club. George real name George ODowd - was the lead singer in the band and Mark was desperate to recreate the new romantic sound on his track.

He persuaded George to lend his vocals to Somebody to Love Me, but when George heard the song for the first time, Mark wasnt sure if he was impressed.

He came to the studio on the first day and he was very poker faced. I couldnt tell if he liked the song and I was like, Oh no, this sucks, he doesnt like it, Mark said in an interview on British television show Lorraine. Throughout the week he went back home and he would email me every other day saying, I really like this line, I feel like I could have written it.

And its true he could have written it, because it was inspired by him and what Culture Club were doing in the 80s.

Mark who has previously worked with stars including Christina Aguilera, Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen has also admitted he wasnt sure if George had lost some of his vocal abilities. However, when the 49-year-old star finally began to sing in the recording studio, Mark was impressed by the strength and passion he put into the lyrics.

He came in a week later and to be honest I hadnt heard him sing since The Crying Game song so it was a real moment of truth when he finally opened his mouth, Mark explained. It was this harebrained scheme in my head, where I decided we had to get Boy George to sing. And then he started singing and I just relaxed and I knew it would work.
