(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Matt Damon usually avoids working with new directors.

The Hollywood actor has enjoyed a successful movie career, starring in films such as Saving Private Ryan, the Oceans trilogy, and the Bourne series, but rarely commits to starring in a directorial debut.

However, the American actor had so much faith in The Adjustment Bureaus director George Nolfi he decided to give it a go. The pair have previously collaborated on Oceans Twelve and the Bourne Ultimatum, at which time the director was known for being a talented screenwriter.

Id spent so much time with George, especially on the Bourne Ultimatum, writing things as we were going, and Id seen him under as much pressure as you can really be, hed dug us out of so many holes, and I felt this guy has definitely got what it takes to direct a movie, he explained to Collider.com. I dont normally work with first time directors. But I didnt feel that George was, I felt he had a lot of great experience and so we took the leap.

Matt was told about The Adjustment Bureaus script in confidence. George explained he the actor to appear in his directorial debut and was not selling his script.

He wrote Oceans 12 and the Bourne Ultimatum, so I spent a lot of time working with him. We were friends and he showed up at my house one day with the script and said, Tell me what you think of this, and I read it and said, This is a really good idea, this is great, and he said, Im not selling it to a studio because I want it as my directorial debut, he told Collider.com

The Adjustment Bureau tells the story of an affair between a politician and a ballerina, played by British actress Emily Blunt, which is affected by mysterious forces keeping the lovers apart. (C) Cover Media
