Matt Damon: Marriage doesnt need drama

15th February 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Matt Damon and his wife dont need dramatic moments running home with flowers, shirtless, because hes never away from his family for long.

The actor raises four daughters with his wife Luciana Bozn Barroso, Alexa, 12, four-year-old Isabella, Gia, two, and three-month-old Stella. The pair ensure they remain close by spending as much time as possible together, even when Matt is shooting movies.

He appears in Oscar-nominated picture True Grit, which was directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, and explained he was open with them from the beginning that family is at the top of his agenda.

We have a two-week rule. When I did True Grit I asked Joel and Ethan to board the movie so that I was never away from home for more than a week and they did that. So I was working like two days a week and I would fly back [home], he explained.

We really dont need those big dramatic moments running home with flowers, shirtless.

If Matt does sign to a movie which requires him to travel around, his whole family come with him.

The 40-year-old met Luciana in 2003, while shooting Stuck on You in Miami. Its a twist of fate he still thinks about regularly, as he very nearly didnt appear in the release.

There was Werner Herzog film called Rescue Dawn that Christian Bale did and I was really strongly considering it. Instead I met with [directors] the Farrelly brothers. I remember talking with my mother and she said, You know, you dont always have to go into a jungle and lose a bunch of weight. Youre allowed to have a little fun, he said at a recent press conference. And I did the Farrelly brothers movie [Stuck on You] and that was where I met my wife. So four kids later, that was a pretty fateful decision! (C) Cover Media
