Mel Gibson lands Hangover role

18th October 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Mel Gibson is set to play a Bangkok tattooist in The Hangover 2.

The Hollywood star has had a turbulent time of late, following his split from Russian singer Oksana Grigorieva. The pair have 11-month-old daughter Lucia together, and earlier this year Oksana filed for a restraining order claiming Mel had been violent. She alleged he punched her in the face, breaking her teeth, which he has steadfastly denied.

Recordings purported to be of Mel have also been made public, in which a man uses obscene and racist language and at one point tells a woman said to be Oksana it will be her fault if she is raped and seemingly admits to hitting her.

Following the claims against Mel he was dropped by his management agency William Morris Endeavor.

However, he is now determined to get his career back on track, and has reportedly won a part in the highly-anticipated comedy sequel. The movie is a follow up to the 2009 film starring Bradley Cooper and Zach Galifianakis, about a group of men who go to Las Vegas for a bachelor party.

It's a done deal. Mel will make a cameo as a tattoo artist. Filming is taking place on the Warner Bros. lot, where a Bangkok set has been built, and Mel is expected to film his role in two weeks, a source told the New York Post. Then the production moves to Thailand at the end of October.

The plot for The Hangover 2 will see the group of men travel to Thailand together, and they will spend time in Bangkok.

The original movie included a cameo from Mike Tyson, and helped to improve his public image. (C) Cover Media
