Milla Jovovich claims her mom threatened to kill herself if the star partied too hard when she was younger.

The star's mother warned her that she couldn't carry on living if anything happened to her daughter. Milla admits that her mother's threats scared her so much that they were an excellent deterrent from going too far.

"I would always hear her whispering in my ear, I'll kill myself if anything happens to you!'" Milla laughed to Flare magazine. "So, I kind of knew when to say no; when not to continue the party, because I whole-heartedly believed that if anything had happened to me my mom would have killed herself. I still put her through hell, she didn't know that in my head I knew when to stop. I tell her, My God, it could have been so much worse!'"

The Ukrainian born model-turned-actress continued to explain her relationship with her mother. She describes her as being a strict woman who taught about discipline and hard work. Reflecting on when she was growing up, Milla is grateful her mother instilled in her the same tough characteristics she possessed.

"We're definitely fighters, my mom and I are survivors. We came to America with nothing, and built everything from the ground up," Milla explained. "I wasn't raised just to be a pretty girl, or somebody's wife."
