Mohalla Assi trailer: Foul language with a controversial topic

Finally, the trailer of Sunny Deol and Sakshi Tanwar starrer 'Mohalla Assi' official trailer as the film was on hold for quite a long time. On Oct. 25 its final trailer got released and it begins with the protagonist Dharmnath Pandey aka Sunny Deol a pandit from the ghat of Kaashi correcting a man with a bad word and making him realise the importance of the holy river Ganga. While Sakshi Tanwar as his on-screen wife is introduced with a bad language uttering rural lady.

The sins of the commoner living in the ghats of Ganga is emphasized more and the political events from 1990-1998 are highlighted in the context of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Although, after a two year long battle Central Board of Film Certification before being cleared with an 'A' certificate in September 2018. 

Deol is given a strong Hindu character that talks about ethics and values whereas Sakshi slays with more of an authentic role. The film is loosely based on Dr. Kashi Nath Singh's popular Hindi novel Kashi Ka Assi, a satire on the commercialisation of the pilgrimage city, and fake gurus who lure the foreign tourists.

Assi Ghat is a ghat in Varanasi (Banaras) on the banks of Ganges River, and the film is based on a famous and historical 'Mohalla' (locality) by the ghat, on the southern end of Banaras. Presented by Crossword Entertainment in association with Wisdom Tree Productions Mohalla Assi is slated for a November 16 release.
