(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Nicole Richie has vowed not to have any more birthday parties.

The TV star-turned-designer threw a lavish bash when she turned 30 in 2011. She's now decided not to splash out on parties for herself so she can concentrate on celebrating her daughter Harlow and son Sparrow's special days.

"My 30th birthday last year was my last big party my son Sparrow has his birthday in September, so I'm handing the month to him," she explained. "We hired the Beverly Wilshire Hotel and danced all night. I wore a red 20s vintage gown that I'd chopped into a minidress."

These days, Nicole and her husband Joel Madden prefer more relaxed forms of entertaining. They often invite friends to their home to enjoy an evening of talking and good food.

"I throw loads of dinner parties my house is the place everyone hangs out," she told the latest edition of UK magazine InStyle. "I don't want to blow my own trumpet but I do a great tilapia [fish] with tartare sauce made from scratch!" (C) Cover Media
