Cup of fire
When it was announced that Ravi Teja, Gunasekhar and YVS Chowdary are coming together for a film titled Nippu, a lot was expected out of them, since the three are not just known for giving their best, but also are close friends in real life.
Though Nippu is yet another commercial entertainer in Tollywood, the film fulfills expectations, for it starts top gear and the tempo is maintained till the end. The story is old, but the treatment that was given it to it is novel and sustains the interest.
Full of twists and turns, the screenplay makes us forget the loopholes and logical lapses. Ravi Teja's fiery performance often reminds us the title of the film. So does Gunasekhar's direction and Chowdary's production values.
Surya (Ravi Teja) runs a gym. A good Samaritan that he is, he earns the wrath of a set of baddies led by Raja Goud (Pradeep Rawat), when he tries to rescue some innocent people from the hands of evil forces.
In the meantime, he also falls in love with Meghana (Deeksha Seth), who is the sister of his good friend Srikanth (Sri Ram). Elsewhere in Saudi Arabia, where Srikanth currently stays, he is facing death sentence for allegedly murdering his girlfriend Vaishnavi (Bhavana).
The truth is that Srikanth is innocent and he is facing the capital punishment for a crime he has not committed. Back home, Vaishnavi's father is none other than Raja Goud. Enters Surya to set things right.
Ravi Teja is in his usual best, delivering goods. Though the script has not given him enough scope to try his hands much at comedy, he is good at other emotions.
Deeksha Seth's beauty is a treat to watch, especially in gym scenes. Sriram and Bhavana are apt for their roles. Pradeep Rawat is menacing, while Brahmanandam tickles the funny bone well.
Music is by Thaman is average, while cinematography and editing departments add strength. There are many logical loopholes. But who is going to complain as long as Ravi Teja is there to entertain with a racy screenplay?
