No Tamil films at Cannes Film Festival
25th April 2011
The Cannes Film Festival is supposed to be one of the most prestigious, amongst all the film festivals held in the world. The 64th Cannes Film Festival is to be held from the 11th of May to the 22nd of May at Cannes, in France. 33 countries are participating in this festival and 49 films, from various countries, are to be screened at this festival. The sad part is, no Tamil films are being screened. Last year, a lot of Hindi and Tamil films were screened. The Tamil film 'Veyil' had even got an award. The Tamil film 'Billa', which had Ajith in the lead role, was also screened.
The Director General of the Cannes Festival has announced the official list of films to be screened. Popular Hollywood actor, Robert De Niro will be heading the jury committee. The first film to be screened in the festival is Woody Allen's 'Midnight in Paris'.
