One Direction promise best performance

5th September 2012

One Direction's Liam Payne has promised a memorable performance at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

This will mark the first time the British boy band members Liam, Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson will attend the annual award show.

The group is not only excited to be nominated for three prizes, but also to take to the stage at Los Angeles' Staples Center on Thursday.

"I think performing at the VMAs is such a huge occasion," Liam gushed to MTV News. "Like, we're really looking forward to it, and I think it ranks up there with one of the best performances we'll do so far."

The boys feel the pressure of living up to legendary past performances at the event. Liam also talked about the band's desire to perform as well as artists like Eminem and Kanye West.

"It's quite nerve-wracking because obviously there have been so many historical moments and stuff that have happened at the VMAs," Liam revealed.

Fans of New Direction can vote for the group online in the Most Share-Worthy category. The boys are also nominated for Best New Artist and Best Pop Video.
