Filmmaker Vikas Bahl has finally heaved a sigh of relief. After Govinda and Sajid Khan declined to play Alia Bhatt's father in his upcoming film 'Shandaar', veteran actor Pankaj Kapur has ultimately given a nod to it.
Interestingly Shahid Kapoor is also a part of the film, but unlike their real life equation of father-son, the movie will show them in a son and father-in-law's role.
Surprises are not yet over. Along with him, Shahid's real sister, has stepped into the role of Alia's sister in the film. Shahid says, "My sister plays Alia's sister in the film while dad plays her father. So, Alia has left me without my family. She has taken all of them in this film. But seriously, I have been really impressed with the kind of films Alia is doing. I feel she is amazingly talented."
On sharing the screen with his father, Shahid said, "I am very excited about dad and me working together for the first time. I was so scared working with him, I cannot tell you. We shot for five days and I was damn nervous. The first day, I think I was over-acting. Because I feel he's such a great actor, I feel like I am over-compensating when standing in the same frame with him. Thinking, 'I really need to do a lot of things so that people notice me at least'. I kept going back and asking Vikas (Bahl), 'Am I over-acting?' He kept slapping me on my back and saying, 'Shut up and do the shot.' But by the second day, I kind of settled in and then we found our rhythm and then it became like a very normal shoot. We never spoke to each other after doing the shot, whether it was good or bad. We were like, do your shot and if the director says it’s okay, and it’s over, that’s it and no discussion happens. Which is nice because it kind of keeps that sense of unknown and that thing on. But yes, I can always sense the father in him and he is standing in the frame with me. How he is looking out for me. I can see that in his eyes, he might not say anything but I can feel it. I can feel that he is making sure that it's good together’ types."
In the past, Shahid and Pankaj worked together in 'Mausam', however after that, they did not get any opportunity to share space with one another.
