(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Paris Hilton's assistant says the star is "a wonderful person".

The reality television personality sparked controversy recently for cancelling numerous media interviews and appearances after a contentious interview on American television show The View.

On the show, Paris was grilled about her new series The World According to Paris and it was rumoured that the star had harsh words with producers after the exchange.

Paris' personal assistant Lexie Dreyfus has defended the star and has offered insight into her character.

"I actually consider her a really good friend of mine and I think she's a wonderful person," she told Radaronline. "I think she's so kind and sweet and I think she has a sense of humor that most people don't really get but at the end of the day she's funny."

Following the scores of cancellations, Lexie believes Paris has a good reason for saying what she did during the interview. She says Paris is an honest person and should be congratulated for speaking her mind.

"She was being real," she explained. "That is who she is. She's being real. Don't bust her butt for really being real. Wouldn't you say it sucked if you had to do community service at 8 in the morning? Even if you had to do it if you did something wrong?" (C) Cover Media
