(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Pete Wentz was reportedly out of sorts in the days leading up to his divorce announcement.

Pete, 31, and Ashlee Simpson, 26, tied the knot back in May 2008 and have a two-year-old son together called Bronx. It was yesterday announced via a spokesperson that the couple had decided to file for divorce, and it has now emerged that Pete hadnt been acting himself in the run-up to the announcement.

Only days before the split had been revealed Pete made an appearance at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana Grand Opening in the Dominican Republic, where he posed for photographs in a T-shirt reading "I'm so happy I could just sh*t".

According to an ET source the rock star had been behaving out of sorts, preferring to shy away from conversation with other stars.

"We thought [he] was just a moody rock star but it ended up being way more than an act. He stayed in his hotel room the whole time and never took the opportunity to talk to any fellow celebrities. He didn't even enjoy the beach!" explained the source.

Insiders close to the former celebrity pair have been offering an insight into why the pair split. It has been firmly stated there have been no third parties involved, although it is believed Petes passion for his career had been putting a strain on the marriage.

After Bronx was born Ashlee made a conscious decision to get out of the business, but Pete's heart was in music so he kept touring and that became a big issue in their relationship, one source told TMZ.

Sources have also claimed to the site that Ashlee has asked for primary physical custody of Bronx in her divorce papers, although Pete is reportedly keen to have joint legal and physical custody. (C) Cover Media
