(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Pink paid $5,000 to save a puppy that was callously thrown into a river and left for dead.

The American songstress offered to pay for emergency life-saving surgery on the young animal that had been abused in Los Angeles.

According to TMZ, Pink was surfing the Internet recently, when "she stumbled upon a story about a puppy that had been thrown off an L.A. overpass."

The injured animal had suffered three broken legs as a result. Because of its extensive injuries, the puppy required immediate "major surgery" or its future looked exceptionally bleak.

Pink contacted the Ace of Hearts animal rescue organisation and offered to pay the $5,000 medical bill.

The puppy has since made a full recovery.

Pink has been feeling in a festive mood of late.

The star surprised her husband Carey Hart by buying him a piece of art by his favourite artist Robert Williams, and also arranged a meeting between the pair.

Carey took to his Twitter page to express his delight at the thoughtful gift from his wife.

"I got to meet my all time favourite artists in the world today, Robert Williams. Thank you so much for your time and hospitality (sic)" he wrote.

"Thank you so much Pink for making it happen. The painting is amazing, and getting to spend the 2 hours with him and his wife was the best. I now have a custom Robert Williams painting that was done with the love of my wife and daughter. True meaning of priceless art."
